If you'd like to share your weekend either with words, photographs, or both, leave a link to a weekend post in the commentsJoining with Amanda for her weekending posts.

Healing snuggles.

A gift from my Mom.

Caribbean Breeze - yarn Mom picked out for socks I will make her.

It was love at first sight.

Alpaca roving.

 This weekend included:

* A wonderful visit, despite the reason, with my brother.
* Driving back to MI in the sun and seeing all of the turning leaves with my Mom.
* Snuggles between Mom and a certain feline who has been in her lap constantly.
* Attending a local fiber festival with the whole family.
* Baby steps and rest breaks for Mom and myself.
* Studying, and keeping off my broken toe (ugh).
* Eyeballing that spinning wheel and wondering how will I get it in working condition (help!)
* Coffee.
* Knitting.
* Love.

Hope everyone had a beautiful weekend!

  1. I am so glad to see y'all made it back home safely. I wish I could help you with the spinning wheel, but spinning is still on my 'to be learned list' [my bucket list]. You broke your toe? Ouch! I have done the same thing running outside barefoot. I hope you both get plenty of rest and find time for some knitting with that lovely yarn!

  2. Glad you are both on the mend. Sending healing vibes to you both. I want to learn to spin, but have not yet taken the plunge. I am not sure I need another hobby!

  3. fiber festivals are always such fun! can't wait to see your wheel in working order - spinning is the most relaxing thing ever.

  4. Gorgeous pictures, and I am very envious of that spinning wheel. I really want one! I hope your mom is healing and feeling better, sending good thoughts your way.

  5. I bet the fiber festival made your toe feel better! When did you break it??? Your weekend sounds like fun, except for your toe...

  6. @Tracey

    I've gotten the strings back on the wheel (which was my biggest fear). Chase has been pedaling away happily so I may try and give him some roving to try and spin! He's quite fascinated with the spinning wheel.

    Yep, I broke my baby toe. :/ I broke my big toe as a kid (a buckle break on the top of my foot). Treatment is the same I guess -- work boots!

  7. @Proud Mama

    Thank you! Other than being tired, Mom is doing really well.

  8. @amanda {the habit of being}

    I loved the fiber festival! I am so looking ready to get spinning.

  9. @GirlAnachronismE

    Thank you! Mom is doing really well. She tires easily, but she's getting around more. Looks like my son is going to be learning to spin, too!

  10. @Swanski

    Errf.. I broke my toe at the hospital on my way to get my car so I could take Mom home. I had parked near the cancer center wing, and went to get my car after hours. I got locked out of the building, went toward the parking lot and ended up in KNEE DEEP mud. I had to scream for my brother to find me and help me get out. I was coated in mud (not to mention my sweater my mom knitted me was covered in mud), lost a shoe in the muck, and had to hobble through the parking lot in soggy socks in the rain. There was no security around at all to help. I am still quite upset about all of this. Grr!

  11. I would be upset too! The wheel looks great. Can't wait to hear how you get it working. I am not a great deal of help, but have fixed several things on mine so far so I'll try. My foot pedal does not spin my wheel yet (last problem knock on wood) so my kids turn the wheel for me right now. Glad to hear your mom is doing well!

  12. Thanks so much for the birthday wishes! Looks like you had a lovely weekend as well. Wow! A spinning wheel!! Thinking of your Mama. xoxo

  13. @Julia

    My Mom helped get the cords on, and every time they pop off, Chase can get them on with no problem. He has been practicing spinning the wheel all week, so he might actually get the first go at using it!

    Your kids are awesome!

  14. @rainblissed

    So glad you had a wonderful day!

    Thanks -- Mom is doing really well.
